ANNE CROPPER
ELISSA JEROME

Annie Cropper and Elissa Jerome are senior Photography students at Shepherd University. The two have combined their concepts to work collaboratively with transitions in nature as representational of the female cycle as well as utilizing a Ginkgo grove to symbolize memory and balance between the sexes. As a nod to the act of female collaboration the piece, utilizes a circular presentation referencing women coming together in sewing circles to create within a group. The images are stitched together to reinforce this concept. The images are presented in a square format which is representational of Earth and masculine symbolism. This tree unlike most is either male or female in its sex. Ginkgo trees are used medicinally to enhance memory. The transfer process utilized leaves small areas of the imagery missing. As the trees’ transition from green to yellow the missing information decreases symbolizing it’s healing properties. Mixing media’s Jerome and Cropper have incorporated the fan like leaves from the trees in a cascading form from within the circle to represent the flow of the menstrual cycle.
